Community Collaboration: Transforming Boksburg’s Suburbs through Cleanup and Partnership with Pizza Baby

Our initial cleanup effort is centered around a major route that spans several suburbs in Boksburg. We commenced our project on Finch Road with the intention of progressing down Finch, which eventually transitions into Elizabeth Road. We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to Pizza Baby at Summerfields Shopping Centre in Atlasville for their invaluable support. With their backing, we successfully tackled the intersection of Finch and Reier Road, steadily making our way up to Finch and Brentwood Road.

Our process is meticulously organized, starting with the meticulous clearing of the kerbs from grass and weeds before embarking on our kerb marking endeavor. As our dedicated staff took on the cleaning tasks, our enthusiastic volunteers eagerly began collecting litter and ensuring that bins in the area were clear and well-maintained. Armed with green paint, our volunteers then coated the bins with direct-to-metal paint, guaranteeing their longevity. Simultaneously, as we initiated the kerb painting, Vincent and another staff member began the crucial task of priming the stop street and street sign poles. The following day, they applied a fresh coat of paint, ensuring that the entire area appeared vibrant and well-kept.

Our collaboration with the Pizza Baby staff was an absolute delight, with their unwavering support throughout. While they generously distributed their menus at the four-way stop, increasing local awareness of their brand, we continued our mission up the road. A heartfelt thank you to Kelvin, a CPF member, for assisting us in setting up at the corner of Finch and Brentwood Road, where we resumed our project.

At this intersection, we had the pleasure of joining forces with Thulani, who is actively working to establish his own cleanup initiative in Boksburg. Together, we achieved the project’s goals with unwavering dedication and teamwork.

As a token of appreciation for a job well done, Pizza Baby generously treated us to the most delectable pizzas for lunch. A very special shout out to Tazzman&Co, who always support us by collecting all the trash for dumping and cutting some brush.

These experiences reinforce our belief that every member of our community, from individuals to businesses, holds a social responsibility to contribute positively. We must continue to support businesses that generously fund our initiatives, recognizing that without their support, our projects would be impossible to carry out.
